About the Role
As the VP Projects, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to partner with leading pulp and paper companies to develop large, complex carbon capture projects at mill sites to capture and sequester biogenic CO2 from boiler stack emissions. You will lead project development efforts including managing individual projects through a rigorous stage-gated process from Pre-Feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED, to Final Investment Decision (FID), managing workstreams.
You will collaborate closely with all functions in the company, in particular engineering, sales, product, and finance. Your strategic thinking, innovative ideas, and ability to build strong relationships will be critical in driving the growth and success of our business. At CO280 we believe everyone is a “player-coach,” meaning we all manage & lead, but we also all roll up our sleeves and execute on our goals directly.
About the Company
We are a leading developer of carbon negative projects dedicated to radically altering the trajectory of climate change. Our mission is to lead the world in carbon dioxide removal that sets the highest standards of permanence, quality, and affordability at scale. We develop, finance, own, and operate large carbon capture and sequestration projects throughout North America that will capture and sequester 10 million tons per year by 2030.
To develop projects, we partner with industrial emitters, EPCs, capture technology suppliers, CO2 transport and storage companies, CDR buyers, and investors. We sell CDR – Carbon Dioxide Removals – as our primary revenue source. As the Vice President of Projects, you will play a crucial role in driving the company's project development strategy, expanding the project pipeline, and managing projects from concept to Final Investment Decision (FID) to accelerate adoption of carbon capture into our core markets.
Responsibilities
Project Strategy: Work with the executive team to refine, improve, and implement the company's project development strategy, aligning it with business goals, to drive market adoption of our Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) platform.
Project Development Execution: Project manage and “quarterback” commercial and technical development of the company’s projects from concept to pre-feasibility, to pre-FEED, FEED and FID in collaboration with project partners and other team members.
Strategic Account Management: Collaborate with pulp and paper partners to develop enterprise-wide strategies for carbon capture projects that leverage initial “beach head” projects to tie up additional sites and biogenic CO2.
“Hub” Development: Develop and implement “hub” strategies to execute multiple carbon capture projects in targeted regions by partnering with CO2 transport and storage companies to create common infrastructure.
Project Partnerships: Build collaborative relationships with CO2 transport and storage companies, capture technology companies, engineering and EPC firms, and other partners.
Market Awareness: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the carbon capture market in target geographies including industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape, to inform marketing strategies and tactics.
Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, sales, product, and finance teams to align and ensure effective management of project development activities across all workstreams.
Budget Development & Management: Create and manage the project development budgets for each project, allocating resources effectively to maximize return on investment.
Leadership: Define and develop Project roles as required to meet strategic objectives and client deliverables, ensuring that the right skills are in place and that team members are supported to succeed.
