Measurement, Reporting,
& Verification
A new standard for verifiability.
One of the key advantages of our BioDAC pathway is that it will set a new standard for verifiability. Every ton, at every step in the process will be tracked and monitored in real-time. We track both operational and embodied emissions in the capture process, CO2 transportation and sequestration.
See how it works and what we track below.
How does BioDAC work?

What do we track?

FORESTS
We track carbon replacement rate, forestry & transport fuel use, and ensure nature positive practices for biomass used in the carbon capture process. The forest growth-to-drain ratio is in a range of 1.4 - 1.6 for the DeRidder mill. 100% of the fiber sourced for the mill is a byproduct from other timber industry or recycled material. All fiber is sourced from within a 100-mile radius of the mill, with the majority from within 50 miles.

DERIDDER MILL
We track biomass usage and embodied CO2 emissions to generate steam for our carbon capture project.
CARBON CAPTURE PLANT
We track energy and mass balance, embodied emissions from materials & infrastructure, as well as the GHG footprint of plant commissioning & decommissioning.

CO2 TRANSPORTATION AND SEQUESTRATION
We track energy & mass balance, infrastructure footprint and energy use per ton for transportation, injection and monitoring.
We have partnered with best-in-class companies to assist the project in developing this high standard of MRV.

Carbon Direct
LIFECYCLE ASSESMENT SERVICES
Carbon Direct, under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Sanchez, is conducting a preliminary lifecycle assessment (LCA) study to forecast project CDR volume and quality. A final LCA will also be completed during the FEED stage.

MRV
VERIFICATION SUPPLIER
An MRV verification service provider (such as 350 Solutions or DNV) will be contracted to provide on-going measurement, reporting and verification services to the JV to verify CDR volume and quality for buyers. Selection will be completed during the FEED process, in consultation with our CDR partners.

Carbonomics
METHODOLOGY CONSULTING
Carbonomics, under the leadership of Seth Baruch, is preparing a formal methodology for CO280’s BioDAC pathway.

ICROA
APPROVED CARBON CREDIT SUPPLIER
In consultation with our CDR customers, we may register credits with Verra through the CCS+ initiative, with a decision to be reached during our FEED process.

Tracking includes the greenhouse gas footprint of all aspects of the project: from construction to operations of the capture plant itself, and our transportation and storage of the CO2.
Our MRV process closely tracks operational and embodied greenhouse gas emissions at every step.
