About the Role
The Director of Corporate Development will be CO280’s first dedicated corporate development hire,
responsible for evaluating, structuring, and advancing strategic opportunities that shape the company’s long-term growth and competitive position.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, finance, and execution. You will work closely and report to the Chief Commercial Officer and senior leadership to assess M&A opportunities, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and other inorganic growth initiatives, while also supporting enterprise-level strategic planning. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, self-directed, and comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-growing climate infrastructure company.
This will be a hybrid role: Vancouver or West Coast preferred; rest of US or Canada will also be considered.

CO280 is a leading developer of large-scale carbon removal projects, capturing biogenic CO₂ from pulp mills and permanently storing it underground. Responsibilities
Establish a clear framework for evaluating non-organic growth opportunities.
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize corporate development opportunities, including partnerships, joint ventures, new business opportunities, and acquisitions.
Lead strategic assessments of new opportunities - utilizing financial analysis, valuation, and modeling tools for potential transactions; assess commercial, technical, regulatory, and execution risks.
Support corporate and business-unit strategy development through market analysis, competitive intelligence, and scenario planning.
Coordinate cross-functional diligence efforts across commercial, engineering, MRV, legal, finance, and operations teams.
Assist in structuring and negotiating transaction terms in collaboration with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
Prepare clear, data-driven materials for senior leadership to support investment and strategic decisions.
Track industry trends across energy markets, carbon markets, CCS, and emerging
decarbonization technologies to inform strategic priorities.

Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, strategy consulting, or related roles.
Demonstrated experience evaluating and executing complex transactions or strategic initiatives such as M&A deals, infrastructure asset development, or new market investment opportunities.
Advanced Excel and proficiency in financial modeling for transactions.
Deep interest in energy, infrastructure, carbon markets, or climate technology.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
Passion for climate solutions and CO280’s mission.
This role will be based in North America. Some travel is required.
